Building Outphasing

Belgacom, as many other European operators, is in the process of adapting and upgrading its telecommunications infrastructure.

These adaptations render a number of local exchanges obsolete. The buildings accommodating these local exchanges are susceptible of being sold, and the MDF’s will be phased-out. Consequently, certain Belgacom LEX-buildings will cease to be operational in the future. This will impact all services depending on those local exchanges for their delivery.

The list of buildings potentially qualifying for closure over the period 2013-2018 contains approximately 65 buildings. This list is drawn based on our best information to date, and is to be considered as a reliable indication of the future closings.

These 65 locations are still subject to further detailed study on opportunity and feasibility, and thus changes may still occur in the respect of a reasonable timeframe. Belgacom will inform all concerned parties of any changes in this list, and an updated version will at all times be available on this website.
